Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Banxia Baizhu Tianma Granules (also known as Banxia Baizhu Tianma Tang Granules) is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula prepared as granules. Originating from the Qing Dynasty medical text 'Yi Xue Xin Wu' (Medical Insights) by Cheng Guopeng, the formula traditionally consists of eight herbal ingredients: Pinellia rhizome (Banxia), Gastrodia rhizome (Tianma), Atractylodes macrocephala rhizome (Baizhu), Poria (Fuling), Red tangerine peel (Juhong/Chenpi), Licorice root (Gancao), Fresh ginger (Shengjiang), and Jujube fruit (Dazao). It is indicated for the treatment of wind-phlegm rising syndrome, which manifests as vertigo, headache, chest stuffiness, nausea, and vomiting. The formula works by drying dampness, transforming phlegm, extinguishing internal wind, and strengthening the spleen. In China, it is approved as a Class 3.1 classic TCM formula, with commercialized versions developed and marketed by companies such as CR Sanjiu and Sichuan Guangda Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Livzon).
