Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bao Chan Wu You Fang is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula, also known as Baochan Wuyou Decoction or Powder, originally described by the Qing dynasty physician Fu Qingzhu. It is specifically indicated for use in the late stages of pregnancy to facilitate natural childbirth, promote cervical ripening, and prevent cephalic dystocia (difficult labor). The formula typically comprises thirteen botanical ingredients, including *Angelica sinensis* (Dang Gui), *Ligusticum wallichii* (Chuan Xiong), and *Cuscuta chinensis* (Tu Si Zi), which are traditionally believed to harmonize Qi and blood while tonifying the kidneys to ensure a smooth delivery. Clinical trials in China have investigated its efficacy in reducing the rate of cesarean sections and shortening labor duration in term pregnancies.
