Overview
Baobei Zhike Oral Liquid is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Gansu Yasheng Academy of Sciences and manufactured by Gansu Yasheng Pharmaceutical. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of respiratory conditions, including acute tracheobronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. The oral solution is composed of several herbal extracts, including *Ephedra*, *Morus alba* (mulberry bark), *Descurainia sophia* (tansy mustard seed), and *Armeniaca sibirica* (bitter apricot seed). Its therapeutic effects are attributed to the synergistic action of its components, which provide bronchodilation (primarily via ephedrine's agonism of beta-2 adrenergic receptors), antitussive activity, and expectorant properties. While the name 'Baobei' (meaning 'Baby') suggests a pediatric focus, the formulation is also utilized for adult bronchial conditions characterized by cough, excessive phlegm, and shortness of breath.
