Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Baofukang Shuan is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) gynecological suppository primarily used for the treatment of various vaginal and cervical conditions. Its main active ingredients are zedoary turmeric oil (Curcuma zedoaria oil) and borneol. Zedoary turmeric oil contains curcumin and related compounds with antibacterial, antineoplastic, and antiviral properties. Borneol is a natural monoterpene that enhances drug absorption through mucosal tissues and has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antibacterial effects. The suppository is indicated for fungal vaginitis (including vulvovaginal candidiasis), bacterial vaginosis, cervical erosion/lesions (such as squamous intraepithelial lesions), leukorrhea due to infection or inflammation, postmenopausal atrophic vaginitis, uterine cervicitis, and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. It works by promoting blood circulation to resolve stasis, encouraging granulation tissue formation for healing erosions/ulcers in the cervix or vagina, relieving pain/inflammation locally in the reproductive tract mucosae; it also exhibits direct antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi[2][3][4][5]. Clinical studies have shown efficacy both as monotherapy or combined with recombinant human interferon α-2b in treating HPV-related cervical disease[5][9].
