Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Baoshenfang granules is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN). It is specifically formulated for patients exhibiting the TCM syndrome pattern of Qi and Yin deficiency combined with blood stasis blocking collaterals. The drug is designed to protect renal function by regulating podocyte stability, inhibiting the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of renal cells, and modulating mechanistic biomarkers such as miR-21. Clinical evaluation focuses on its efficacy as an adjunctive therapy to standard Western medical treatments (such as ACE inhibitors or ARBs) in reducing proteinuria and slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease in patients with Stage IV diabetic nephropathy.
