Overview
Bap Scar Care S is a medical-grade silicone sheet designed for the treatment and prevention of abnormal scars, such as hypertrophic scars and keloids. Manufactured by BAP Medical, it functions by providing a semi-occlusive barrier over the scar tissue, which helps to regulate trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and maintain high levels of hydration in the stratum corneum. This hydration and occlusion process leads to the softening, flattening, and fading of the scar, while also alleviating symptoms like redness, itching, and pain. The product was specifically evaluated in clinical trials at the University Hospital, Ghent, to measure its occlusive and hydrating capacity in patients with healed burns and healthy volunteers.
