Baracross

Baracross is a branded generic version of entecavir, developed and marketed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. As a guanosine nucleoside analogue, it acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of the HBV polymerase enzyme. The drug is phosphorylated intracellularly to its active triphosphate form, which competes with natural deoxyguanosine triphosphate to inhibit viral DNA synthesis. Specifically, it blocks three essential stages of HBV replication: base priming, reverse transcription of the negative strand from pregenomic mRNA, and synthesis of the positive strand of HBV DNA. Baracross is administered orally as a tablet and is used to achieve viral suppression in patients with chronic hepatitis B, including those with compensated or decompensated liver disease.
