Overview

Bardoxolone (CDDO, RTA 401) is a synthetic triterpenoid compound derived from oleanolic acid. It is an orally available small molecule with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Bardoxolone acts primarily as an activator of the KEAP1-Nrf2 pathway and as an inhibitor of the NF-κB pathway, modulating redox balance and inflammation. It has been investigated for its potential antineoplastic effects in cancer (including lymphoma and solid tumors) and for chronic kidney disease (CKD), but clinical development has faced setbacks due to safety concerns[4][5][7].
