Overview

Barzolvolimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to and potently inhibits the receptor tyrosine kinase KIT. By targeting KIT—a protein expressed on mast cells and other cell types—barzolvolimab blocks signaling pathways that control mast cell differentiation, recruitment, survival, and activity. This mechanism is particularly relevant in diseases where mast cell activation drives pathology such as chronic urticaria (both spontaneous and inducible), prurigo nodularis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and atopic dermatitis. Barzolvolimab has demonstrated rapid and durable efficacy in clinical trials for chronic urticaria with a favorable safety profile through long-term treatment[2][3][5][6][7][8].
