Overview

Batefiban (BAT1306) is a small molecule glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GPIIb/IIIa) receptor antagonist developed by Bio-Thera Solutions. It functions as a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation by competitively blocking the binding of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor to the GPIIb/IIIa receptor on the surface of activated platelets. This mechanism is critical for preventing thrombus formation in high-risk cardiovascular settings. Batefiban is primarily being developed for the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and the prevention of periprocedural myocardial ischemia in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). By providing potent and reversible inhibition of platelet aggregation, batefiban aims to reduce thrombotic complications during and after cardiac procedures.
