Batoclimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). By binding to FcRn, batoclimab blocks its interaction with immunoglobulin G (IgG), thereby inhibiting FcRn-mediated recycling of IgG antibodies. This leads to accelerated degradation and reduced levels of circulating IgG, including pathogenic autoantibodies. Batoclimab is being developed primarily for autoimmune diseases such as generalized myasthenia gravis, Graves ophthalmopathy, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, and other conditions where pathogenic IgG plays a role. The drug is administered as a subcutaneous injection and has shown promising results in reducing disease activity in clinical trials[1][3][4][5][6][7].
