Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bavituximab + gemcitabine is an investigational drug combination evaluated for the treatment of advanced stage IV pancreatic cancer. Bavituximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets phosphatidylserine (PS), a membrane phospholipid externalized on tumor vasculature under stress, promoting antitumor immune responses and potentially enhancing antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity on tumor-associated endothelial cells; gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog used as a cytotoxic chemotherapy, primarily inhibiting DNA synthesis in dividing cancer cells. This combination has been investigated in a Phase II clinical trial for pancreatic cancer, demonstrating improved objective response rate and overall survival versus gemcitabine monotherapy, and has shown an acceptable safety profile[1][2][4][3][6].
