Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bavtavirine is an investigational antiretroviral drug candidate. It is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) developed for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Bavtavirine acts by binding to and inhibiting the activity of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking viral replication. The drug has been studied in clinical trials as a potential therapy for patients with HIV, particularly those with resistance to other NNRTIs. As of now, it remains in development and has not received regulatory approval.
