Overview

Bawei Chenxiang Wan (BCW) is a traditional Tibetan herbal medicine developed and manufactured by Xizang Ganlu Tibetan Medicine. It is formulated as an oral pill and is primarily indicated for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, and cardiac hypertrophy. The medicine's therapeutic effects are mediated through the regulation of energy, fatty acid, and glucose metabolism via the activation of the AMPK/PPAR-α and SIRT3-HIF1α-PDK/PDH signaling pathways. Standardized by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China in 1995, its active chemical constituents include gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, costunolide, dehydrocostus lactone, and dehydrodiisoeugenol.
