Overview

BAY 1747846 is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of coagulation Factor XIa (FXIa) developed by Bayer. Factor XIa is a key protease in the intrinsic pathway of the coagulation cascade, and its inhibition is hypothesized to provide antithrombotic efficacy with a lower risk of bleeding compared to traditional anticoagulants that target the common pathway (such as Factor Xa or thrombin). The drug has been investigated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers, primarily for the potential prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disorders.
