Overview

BAY 3713389 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Bayer that specifically targets Glypican-3 (GPC3), a cell-surface oncofetal antigen highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but with limited expression in normal adult tissues. It serves as the targeting moiety for the radiopharmaceutical BAY 3547926, an actinium-225 labeled antibody conjugate (AAC). By binding to GPC3 on the surface of cancer cells, BAY 3713389 facilitates the delivery of the alpha-emitting radioisotope actinium-225, which induces double-strand DNA breaks and subsequent cell death. The antibody is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials as the targeting component of BAY 3547926 for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.
