Overview

BAY-3827 is a **small-molecule AMP-activated protein kinase inhibitor** developed by Bayer. It has been described as a potent and selective chemical probe for AMPK, with reported biochemical potency in the low-nanomolar range and prevention of ACC1 phosphorylation as a downstream pharmacodynamic effect. BAY-3827 has mainly been used in preclinical and translational research to interrogate AMPK signaling in cancer biology, including studies in prostate cancer and lung adenocarcinoma models, and it has shown anti-proliferative activity in androgen-dependent prostate cancer cell lines. Available information suggests it remains a **preclinical research-stage compound** rather than a marketed therapeutic product, and its utility for in vivo development may be limited by poor aqueous solubility and low oral bioavailability.
