Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BAY 79-4980** was a Bayer investigational, liposome-formulated recombinant coagulation factor VIII product for **severe hemophilia A**. It consisted of sucrose-formulated recombinant factor VIII from Kogenate FS reconstituted with a PEGylated-liposome diluent, producing a non-covalent recombinant FVIII-liposome complex intended to provide more durable bleed protection than conventional recombinant FVIII. It was administered intravenously and evaluated in completed pharmacokinetic studies and a Phase 2 once-weekly prophylaxis study; the Phase 2 study was terminated or withdrawn.
