Overview

BAY3283142 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Bayer for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and related cardiovascular conditions. It acts as a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) activator, stimulating the sGC enzyme to increase levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes blood vessels and is thought to have beneficial effects in CKD. The drug is currently in Phase II clinical trials for CKD, with additional studies evaluating its safety in patients with mild to moderate hypertension. There are also indications that it may be under development for nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR). By targeting the nitric oxide-sGC-cGMP pathway, BAY3283142 aims to address unmet medical needs in renal and cardiovascular diseases[1][3][5][6][7][8].
