Bayovac SRS

Bayovac SRS is an inactivated veterinary vaccine (bacterin) developed for the aquaculture industry to protect salmonid fish against Salmon Rickettsial Septicaemia (SRS), a severe systemic disease caused by the Gram-negative intracellular bacterium *Piscirickettsia salmonis*. SRS is a major cause of mortality in farmed salmon, particularly in the Chilean aquaculture sector. The vaccine works by inducing active immunization through the presentation of inactivated bacterial antigens, which stimulates the production of specific antibodies and primes the cellular immune response. Originally developed by Bayer Animal Health, the product is typically administered via intraperitoneal injection to provide long-lasting protection during the seawater growth phase of the fish.
