Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bazhen Decoction is a classic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula composed of eight principal herbs. It is primarily used to tonify and augment both Qi and Blood deficiencies. The formula combines the effects of Sijunzi Decoction (which strengthens spleen and Qi) and Siwu Decoction (which nourishes blood), making it a comprehensive tonic for general weakness, fatigue, anemia-like symptoms, poor appetite, pale complexion, menstrual irregularities in women, recovery from illness or surgery, and overall immune support[1][2][3][4][6]. Modern research suggests that Bazhen Decoction may also play roles in improving immunity[2][3], supporting hematopoietic function[3], promoting wound healing[3], reducing chemotherapy-related adverse reactions as an adjuvant therapy for malignant tumors[3], regulating anti-aging pathways including telomere elongation and DNA repair mechanisms[5]. Its mechanism involves multi-target regulation of physiological processes such as stem cell activity and protein homeostasis rather than acting on a single molecular target.
