Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BB128 is an investigational live biotherapeutic product (microbial consortium therapy) being developed by BiomeBank. Developed using BiomeBank's proprietary CONSORTIOME platform, BB128 consists of a defined, cultured microbial consortium designed to modulate the gut microbiome. It is currently in preclinical (in vitro) development for the treatment of an undisclosed rare/orphan disease, with an orphan drug designation pending. Historically, some public sources and regulatory reports (such as the World Health Organization's antibacterial pipeline reviews) have associated the code BB128 with BiomeBank's donor-derived fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) product, Biomictra, which is approved in Australia for recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection. However, current pipeline information indicates BB128 is a distinct, defined cultured consortium therapy being developed for rare disease indications.
