BBM-A101

BBM-A101 is an investigational gene therapy developed by Belief BioMed for the treatment of osteoarthritis, specifically knee osteoarthritis. It utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver a genetic cassette encoding an optimized human anti-inflammatory protein directly into the knee joint. The therapeutic target is interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA), and the therapy aims to achieve sustained local expression of this protein, thereby inhibiting IL-1RA activity and reducing inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. The goal is to provide long-term efficacy with a single dose. As of 2025, BBM-A101 has received clearance from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for clinical trials and is in Phase 1/2 development[1][8].
