Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BBR4401 is a parabiotic (postbiotic) derived from the heat-treated probiotic strain *Bifidobacterium breve* IDCC 4401. Developed by Ildong Bioscience, it is specifically designed for the management of moderate hypercholesterolemia by reducing LDL-cholesterol levels. Clinical data from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 12-week trial demonstrated that BBR4401 significantly lowers LDL-cholesterol, with reductions of 8.1% at low doses and 10.8% at high doses. The product has received approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (KFDA) as a functional food ingredient for cholesterol health, positioning it as a non-pharmaceutical intervention for lipid management.
