Overview
BBT-009 is a site-specific PEGylated erythropoietin (EPO) protein analog being developed by Bolder BioTechnology for the treatment of anemia. It functions as an erythropoietin receptor agonist, mimicking the action of endogenous erythropoietin to stimulate the production of red blood cells (erythropoiesis). The drug is engineered using Bolder's proprietary site-specific PEGylation technology, which attaches polyethylene glycol chains to specific sites on the protein to enhance its stability and extend its circulating half-life. This modification is intended to provide a superior pharmacokinetic profile, potentially allowing for less frequent dosing compared to conventional erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs).
