Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BBT-012 is a long-acting, site-specific PEGylated alpha interferon analog being developed by Bolder BioTechnology for the treatment of viral diseases and various cancers. Utilizing a proprietary protein engineering approach, BBT-012 is created through site-specific PEGylation, which increases the protein's effective size and slows its systemic clearance. This results in a homogeneous drug product that is reported to be approximately 10-fold more potent than leading commercial alpha interferon products. As an alpha interferon analog, it mimics the activity of endogenous cytokines that play a critical role in the innate immune response, providing antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory effects.
