Overview

BBT-021 is a long-acting erythropoietin (EPO) ImmunoFusion protein being developed by Bolder BioTechnology for the treatment of anemia, particularly anemia associated with chronic kidney disease. It is an engineered EPO analog fused to an IgG-Fc or similar immunoglobulin domain to extend circulating half-life, resulting in significantly longer systemic exposure and markedly greater potency than recombinant EPO at stimulating red blood cell production in animal models. By activating the erythropoietin receptor to drive erythropoiesis, BBT-021 is intended as an infrequently dosed erythropoiesis-stimulating agent that could improve convenience and potentially reduce dosing frequency compared with existing EPO products; as of current public information, it remains in preclinical development.
