BBT-032 is a proprietary, long-acting interferon beta analog being developed by Bolder BioTechnology as an improved interferon therapy, initially for multiple sclerosis and also explored for antiviral applications including SARS-CoV-2 infection. BBT-032 is engineered to have prolonged in vivo exposure and enhanced antiviral, immunomodulatory, and anti-proliferative properties compared with conventional interferon beta products, resulting in potent activation of type I interferon pathways and downstream interferon-stimulated genes. Preclinical data indicate that BBT-032 strongly inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication in cell culture, supporting its potential use both for accelerating viral clearance in infected patients and for prophylaxis in high-risk populations, in addition to its core indication in multiple sclerosis where long-acting interferon beta is used to reduce relapse rates and disease activity.
