bbT4015 is a chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy targeting **MUC16** (mucin 16), specifically developed for the treatment of ovarian cancer. The therapy engineer's patients' own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes and binds to the MUC16 antigen, which is frequently overexpressed in ovarian tumors. Upon binding to MUC16, the CAR-T cells induce immunologic cytotoxicity, directly killing cancer cells expressing this antigen. Initially developed by 2seventy bio after its spin-out from Bluebird Bio, bbT4015 was acquired and is under continued development by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. The product represents an investigational approach for solid tumors—ovarian cancer in particular—and is currently in preclinical development, having recently completed an IND filing with plans for first-in-human studies.
