Overview
BC-006 is a code name used for two distinct clinical-stage therapeutic candidates. The first, developed by Besico (Shanghai) Biotechnology, is an investigational small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to treat obesity and metabolic disorders by silencing the expression of the **INHBE** (Inhibin subunit beta E) gene in the liver. This reduction in **Activin E** levels is intended to improve body composition, reduce visceral fat, and enhance insulin sensitivity. The second, developed by Dragonboat Biopharmaceutical and also known as **muzastotug**, is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting **Interleukin-11 (IL-11)**. It is being developed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other fibrotic conditions, where it acts by blocking IL-11-mediated pro-fibrotic and pro-inflammatory signaling pathways. Both assets are currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
