Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BC002 is a biological drug developed by Sichuan Luzhou Buchang Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Buchang Pharma. It is a biosimilar of etanercept, a recombinant human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-Fc fusion protein. BC002 consists of the extracellular ligand-binding portion of the human 75 kDa (p75) TNF receptor linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1. It functions as a TNF inhibitor by competitively binding to both TNF-alpha and lymphotoxin-alpha (TNF-beta), preventing their interaction with cell-surface TNF receptors and thereby downregulating the inflammatory cascade. The drug is primarily being developed for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
