BC201 is a pharmaceutical drug developed by ValiRx, described as a derivative of VAL201 and VAL301. It is a combination drug that includes the peptide ingredient found in VAL201/VAL301 along with complementary active components. The VAL201 peptide is a short peptide designed to inhibit the binding of the androgen receptor (AR) to SRC kinase, an enzyme implicated in cancerous cell growth pathways. This mechanism prevents Src-dependent signaling, DNA synthesis, and cell cycle progression. While VAL201 has been investigated for advanced prostate cancer and other hormone-associated solid tumors, BC201 is specifically being developed for patients suffering severe symptoms of Covid-19.
