BC28zT2 is a preclinical chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of multiple myeloma. The therapy is engineered to target the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. The CAR construct specifically incorporates a CD28 co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain (indicated by the '28z' nomenclature) to optimize T-cell activation, proliferation, and cytotoxic activity upon antigen binding. By targeting BCMA, BC28zT2 aims to induce the targeted lysis of myeloma cells while minimizing impact on non-plasma cell populations.
