Overview

BCBBzT2 is a preclinical chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of multiple myeloma. The therapy specifically targets the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a cell surface protein that is highly and nearly universally expressed on malignant plasma cells. The CAR construct utilized in BCBBzT2 incorporates a 4-1BB (CD137) co-stimulatory domain, as indicated by the 'BB' in its nomenclature, which is intended to enhance the metabolic fitness, survival, and long-term persistence of the engineered T cells following infusion. The signaling is further mediated by a CD3-zeta domain to trigger T-cell activation upon antigen binding. As of the current company pipeline, BCBBzT2 remains in the preclinical stage of development.
