Overview

BCD101 is an orally administered botanical drug candidate developed by Bichedam Co., Ltd. for the treatment of essential hypertension. It is derived from natural extracts, primarily *Gastrodia elata* (known as Chunma), which has a long history of use in East Asian traditional medicine for cardiovascular and neurological conditions. The drug is formulated as a liquid solution provided in sachets (typically 2g or 4g of active ingredient). BCD101 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, where it is being evaluated in healthy adult volunteers through single ascending dose (SAD) and multiple ascending dose (MAD) studies to establish its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile. Its therapeutic effect is thought to be mediated by the synergistic action of bioactive phytochemicals that modulate vascular resistance and potentially offer neuroprotective benefits.
