Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**BCG Connaught** is a live attenuated vaccine derived from *Mycobacterium bovis* Connaught substrain, developed specifically as an immunotherapy for bladder cancer and for tuberculosis (TB) prevention in high-risk settings. It is used primarily for intravesical administration in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, stimulating a local immune response that reduces tumor recurrence and progression via activation of the innate and adaptive immune systems, although the precise immunological correlates of efficacy are not fully defined[1][4]. For TB prevention, BCG Connaught works by priming immune recognition of mycobacterial antigens. In Canada, BCG Connaught was manufactured and previously distributed by Sanofi Pasteur for both intradermal vaccination and as an intravesical therapeutic agent[4].
