Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCG purified protein derivative (BCG-PPD) is a diagnostic skin-test reagent derived from the culture filtrate of *Mycobacterium bovis* BCG. Developed by Sanroad Biological Products, it is primarily used to assess cellular immune reactivity (delayed-type hypersensitivity) in individuals who have received the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine. The reagent is used to evaluate the immune response post-vaccination or to assist in differentiating between reactions caused by *Mycobacterium tuberculosis* infection and those resulting from BCG immunization. Upon intradermal administration, the protein antigens trigger a T-cell mediated response in sensitized individuals, resulting in a measurable induration at the injection site.
