Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCL-5 is a botanical drug candidate being developed by Botanic Century (博仲盛景医药) for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. It is a plant-derived extract that functions as a glycosidase inhibitor. By inhibiting glycosidase enzymes in the digestive tract, BCL-5 aims to slow the digestion of complex carbohydrates and the subsequent absorption of glucose in the small intestine, thereby reducing postprandial blood glucose levels. As of the latest reports, the drug is in the preclinical stage of development.
