BCL-AD-021 is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody developed by BioClonal for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It is a conformational antibody designed to selectively target pathological amyloid-beta (Aβ) 1-42 dimers and their specific disease-associated epitopes. By targeting these toxic oligomeric species rather than monomeric Aβ or mature plaques, the drug aims to neutralize the most neurotoxic forms of amyloid-beta involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The program is part of BioClonal's Alzheimer Program, which focuses on modified Aβ targets.
