Overview

BCM475 is an oral soluble film formulation of brexpiprazole, an atypical antipsychotic developed by Shanghai Yunsheng Yanxin Biotechnology. It is being developed for the treatment of schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. Brexpiprazole functions as a serotonin-dopamine activity modulator (SDAM), acting as a partial agonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, and as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. The film formulation is designed to offer an alternative to traditional oral tablets (such as Rexulti), potentially improving patient adherence and ease of administration. BCM475 is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical trials in China to evaluate its bioequivalence and pharmacokinetics compared to brexpiprazole tablets.
