BCM476 is an innovative small molecule therapeutic candidate developed by Shanghai YunSheng YanXin Biotechnology for the management of primary hypertension. It belongs to the Angiotensin Receptor-Neprilysin Inhibitor (ARNI) class, designed to provide a dual mechanism of action by simultaneously inhibiting the enzyme neprilysin (NEP) and blocking the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. Inhibition of neprilysin prevents the degradation of natriuretic peptides, thereby enhancing vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis, while AT1 receptor antagonism counteracts the vasoconstrictive and fluid-retaining effects of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). This synergistic approach is intended to offer more effective blood pressure control and target organ protection compared to traditional antihypertensive agents. BCM476 is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in China.
