BCM894 is an investigational small molecule potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) developed by Shanghai Yunshengyan New Biotechnology for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. Unlike traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that require activation by gastric acid and bind irreversibly to the proton pump, BCM894 inhibits the gastric H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in a reversible and potassium-competitive manner. This mechanism allows for a more rapid onset of action, more stable acid suppression throughout the day and night, and independence from food intake. BCM894 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for indications including duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, reflux esophagitis, and Helicobacter pylori infection.
