Overview

BCMA CAR-T cells (Shenzhen University General Hospital) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed for the treatment of relapsed and refractory multiple myeloma. The therapy involves the ex vivo genetic modification of a patient's own T-cells to express a CAR specifically targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein predominantly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. Once re-infused into the patient, these engineered T-cells recognize BCMA-expressing cells, leading to targeted cytotoxicity and tumor cell death. In early-phase clinical evaluation (NCT05150522), the therapy has demonstrated significant clinical activity, including high overall response rates and stringent complete responses, with a safety profile characterized by manageable cytokine release syndrome and no observed neurotoxicity.
