Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCMA CAR T-cells secreting IL-12 is an armored chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) while co-expressing and secreting interleukin-12 (IL-12). This approach is being developed to treat multiple myeloma by targeting BCMA-expressing plasma cells and simultaneously remodeling the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). The secretion of IL-12 is intended to enhance CAR T-cell persistence, proliferation, and cytotoxicity, as well as recruit and activate endogenous immune cells (such as NK cells and macrophages) to overcome TME-mediated resistance. Preclinical development has been conducted by institutions including the Terry Fox Laboratory (BC Cancer Research Institute), Mayo Clinic, the National Research Council of Canada, and the University of British Columbia.
