Overview

BCMA-directed CAR T-cells (The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), also known as TNFRSF17. BCMA is a cell surface receptor highly and specifically expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma. The therapeutic process involves harvesting a patient's own T cells, genetically engineering them to express a CAR that recognizes BCMA, and re-infusing the modified cells into the patient. Once re-infused, these CAR T-cells bind to BCMA-expressing tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation, proliferation, and targeted cytotoxicity. This specific investigational product is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT05395828) for the treatment of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma, where it is administered in combination with the BiRd regimen (clarithromycin, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone).
