Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BCMA-targeted U-CART is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being developed by Fundamenta Biotech Limited, a subsidiary of Fundamenta Therapeutics. The therapy is designed to treat multiple myeloma by targeting the B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), which is highly expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. As a universal CAR-T (U-CART) product, it utilizes T cells derived from healthy donors rather than the patients themselves, which are engineered to prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and immune rejection. This approach potentially allows for immediate treatment availability and reduced manufacturing costs compared to autologous CAR-T therapies. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
