BCMA-UCART is an allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy designed to treat relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. It is developed using T cells from healthy donors, which are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on multiple myeloma cells. The therapy aims to enable these modified T cells to recognize and kill BCMA-expressing tumor cells in patients. Prior to infusion, patients typically receive conditioning chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide and fludarabine. BCMA-UCART represents a universal CAR-T approach, as opposed to autologous therapies that use the patient’s own T cells[1][2][5].
