BCP + mesenchymal stem cells is a combination therapy consisting of biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP), a synthetic bone substitute material, and culture-expanded mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). This combination is primarily investigated for its regenerative potential in bone repair. BCP serves as an osteoconductive scaffold that supports new bone growth, while MSCs contribute osteogenic and regenerative properties by differentiating into bone-forming cells and secreting factors that promote tissue regeneration. The combined use of BCP with MSCs has been shown to enhance osteoblastic activity and new bone formation more effectively than BCP alone. This approach is being studied mainly in the context of critical-size bone defects, such as those found in craniofacial or orthopedic surgery[2].
