BCP-401 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Biocure Technology, primarily through its subsidiary BiocurePharm, for the treatment of B-cell malignancies. The therapy is specifically designed to target the CD19 antigen, a protein highly expressed on the surface of most B-cell lineage cells, including those in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The treatment process involves harvesting a patient's own T cells, genetically engineering them ex vivo to express a CAR specific to CD19, and re-infusing them into the patient. Once re-introduced, these engineered cells selectively bind to and eliminate CD19-positive cancerous B cells. BCP-401 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, with trials initiated in South Korea for patients with relapsed or refractory ALL.
