Overview

BCTP (breast cancer targeting peptide) is a tumor-homing cyclic peptide identified via in vivo phage display screening of a random CX7C peptide library. Developed by researchers at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Imperial College London, BCTP selectively homes to highly aggressive, vascularized breast tumors. In addition to its tumor-targeting capabilities, BCTP exhibits intrinsic anti-tumor activity, significantly inhibiting tumor growth and progression in mammary tumor-bearing mouse models. The peptide binds to a specific, newly discovered target receptor that is highly expressed in human breast cancer biopsy samples, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery and therapeutic development in breast cancer.
